TL;DR: PDF Toolkit is a 100% offline app. We don't collect, store, transmit, or have access
to any of your data. Your files never leave your device.
1. Introduction
PDF Toolkit ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains
our data handling practices when you use our mobile application.
2. Information We Collect
We do NOT collect any personal information or data.
What We DON'T Collect:
- Personal information (name, email, phone number, address)
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- Location data
- Contact information
- Usage analytics or statistics
- Crash reports
- Your PDF files or documents
- Any other user data
3. How Your Files Are Processed
All PDF and image processing happens entirely on your device:
- Local Processing: Files are processed using on-device libraries (PdfBox-Android, ML Kit
for OCR)
- No Cloud Upload: Your files are NEVER uploaded to any server or cloud service
- Temporary Storage: Temporary files are stored in your device's cache and automatically
cleaned up
- Output Location: Processed files are saved to your device's Downloads folder or custom
location you choose
- No Internet Required: The app works completely offline - no internet connection needed
4. Permissions Required
The app requests the following permissions for core functionality:
Storage Access (Required):
- Purpose: To read PDF/image files from your device and save processed files
- Usage: Only accessed when you explicitly select files or save output
- Data Sharing: None - files stay on your device
Camera (Optional):
- Purpose: For the "Scan to PDF" feature only
- Usage: Only when you use the scan feature
- Data Sharing: None - scanned images are processed locally
5. Data Storage
The app stores minimal data locally on your device:
- Recent Files List: URI references to files you've opened (for quick access in the Files
tab)
- App Settings: Your preferences (compression quality, default image format, etc.)
- Temporary Cache: Temporary files created during processing (automatically cleaned)
You can clear all this data at any time:
- Clear recent files history: Files tab → Clear button
- Clear cache: Settings → Storage → Clear Cache
- Reset all data: Uninstall the app or clear app data in device settings
6. Third-Party Services
We do NOT use any third-party services:
- No advertising networks (Google AdMob, Facebook Ads, etc.)
- No analytics platforms (Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, etc.)
- No crash reporting services (Crashlytics, Sentry, etc.)
- No cloud storage services (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.)
- No social media integrations
- No tracking pixels or cookies
Open Source Libraries Used:
The app uses the following open-source libraries that run locally on your device:
- PdfBox-Android: For PDF manipulation (Apache License 2.0)
- Google ML Kit: For OCR text recognition (runs on-device, Apache License 2.0)
- Jetpack Compose: For UI (Apache License 2.0)
These libraries do not collect or transmit any data.
7. Data Security
- All processing occurs offline on your device
- No data transmission to external servers
- Your documents remain private and secure on your device
- App uses Android's scoped storage for secure file access
8. Children's Privacy
PDF Toolkit does not collect any data from anyone, including children under 13 years of age. The app is safe
for users of all ages.
9. Your Rights
Since we don't collect any data, there's no data to access, modify, export, or delete. However, you have full
control over:
- Files you process (they're stored on your device)
- App settings and preferences
- Recent files history (can be cleared anytime)
- App cache (can be cleared anytime)

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated
"Last Updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
